A number of national agencies provide phlebotomy certification exams. These certifications are widely recognized and they will bolster both your resume and your standing with your current employer. Certification generally lasts for one year, after which it needs to be renewed through a recertification process. In most cases, recertification involves taking a certain number of hours of continuing education per year and supplying documentation of that continuing education to those agencies from which you’ve taken certification exams.
